You can do a lot worse than heading down to Dorset in southern England to take in Bovington Tank Museum’s Tankfest show.
We were again invited to cover the 2013 show & so we headed down to the museum to film the action. And there certainly was plenty of it.
Tankfest is the annual tank show where the curators can dust off some of the exhibits & get them to demonstrate their capabilities in the display arena. As usual, there was an impressive cross-section of vehicles from World War One to today. All were given their chance to shine before a large crowd of fans.
The highlights for us were the restored 88mm Pak 43/41 & Sdkfz.7 tractor as well as the lumbering World War One Mark IV & A7P tank replicas.
There really is no better way to see tanks & AFVs from the history of mechanised warfare in their natural element. Recommended!
