REINVENTING THE WHEEL - HUSSAR PRODUCTIONS

We’re always on the lookout for nifty ways to upgrade a model’s wheels – often the let-down of many a plastic kit. Luckily, help is at hand. The limitations of plastic or vinyl tyres are now overcome.

Resin wheel sets are nothing new, but whereas some companies offered a few select items in their catalogue, Hussar seems to have made it their USP & out & out speciality. They boast an ever-growing selection of well-made replacement wheels for a number of kits. It is this specialism & expanding range that sets their offering apart.

We ordered a whole load of upgrade sets a while ago & thought we’d tell you all about them.

The brand appears to be owned & distributed by Canadian firm Air Connection (www.airconnection.on.ca) though this is based solely on the printed packaging.

The products we ordered were dispatched quickly & were of excellent quality. Moulding was top-notch & we used the sets on a variety model builds.

Some items were cast in a pale yellow resin, others a light grey type. It didn’t matter though as quality was consistent on all examples.

The masters have been tried & tested on real kits & the fit is excellent – with minimum clean-up required. Just a quick cut & sand should do the trick. There’s hardly any moulding seam & no visible casting imperfections or errors.

This is a manufacturer to keep an eye on as it is not always easy to find their products over here in Europe.
