We built it years ago when we were still finding our feet in this hobby. It stands out as the first time we tried out something new, namely aftermarket stowage & dry transfers.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of this kit is not only the simple hassle-free assembly but the display potential. Any open-top vehicle allows the modeller to personalise its interior space & add all those little touches of reality.
So despite the age, the kit built up well enough allowing us to quickly move to the painting stage & then to get accessorising. The crew compartment received a selection of aftermarket items, notably a Verlinden Productions radio plus a whole host of other little extras.
Outside, bags & packs were added. Here once more we turned to Verlinden resin items but also Italeri left-overs from the spares box plus some rolls made from tissue paper.
On the front wing we fashioned a camo net from bandage soaked in white glue.
The final touch was to hitch up a Jeep trailer to give the vehicle an unconventional look. The trailer was appropriately stocked with resin boxes & crates.
This left us to decorate with Verlinden dry transfers for the stars & traffic warning message.
As regards crewing the vehicle, the intention was to place the M3 model in a liberation scene, so we custom-built some figures using a mixture of pieces from the spares bin & that was it. Never did get around to making that diorama though!
