The Dodge “Beep” as it was affectionately known is a fantastic rugged-looking vehicle with many admirers. Until the time of Skybow’s release, modellers could still use the Italeri (or indeed Bilek) kits but this release was a game-changer.
The Skybow moulds were in time ceded to AFV Club & thankfully the model lives on under their label.
The standard of detail & moulding is superb with no weak points. The chassis, engine & cab areas are all accurately depicted thanks to some fine moulding.
There’re only a handful of tweaks you could add if you want to do more than an out-of-the-box build.
The windshield could use some wiring & other small detail touches. The crew area could do with some replacement seats (here we used Milliput) & the safety belt loop fastener points on the dash if you want to go even further.
The main shortcoming is the lack of a tilt or tarpaulin in the Skybow kit. So we chose this build as one of the subjects for our “How To” video guide on making tarps. If you want to see how we did it, keep your eyes peeled for the video. The method we used combined Duro modelling putty & Tamiya White Putty - but the video explains it all in much more detail.
You won’t regret adding this kit to your stash. It is an accurate & detailed rendition of a fine vehicle. The level of detail is second to none & so we’d give it a solid 8/10.
