We couldn’t really launch Scale War Machines without at least one Tiger tank to grace our pages. There’ll be plenty more to come so here’s our 1:48th scale Tiger I to inspire you to send in yours...
In fact, we are always looking for users to submit their own content, so don’t be shy! Whatever your modelling ability, send us photos of your Tigers to beef up our image bank.
This particular model is Tamiya’s I:48th Early Tiger I (Ref: 32504) knocked together over a weekend. It is, like many of their 1:48th kits, only hampered by an all die-cast hull & moulded on tools.
Don’t let that put you off the Tiger though. We had a blast making this little cat and at this scale we can live with the loss of detail & even the toy-like hull.
There were no major areas of difficulty, with the just the link & length tracks to watch out for, depending on your level of skill.
So here’s some shots of the finished kit. As you can see, we couldn’t resist the colourful camo scheme & Japanese motifs of Tiger S33 from PzRgt 2 in Russia during 1943. We used Tamiya’s paint range as specified in the instructions & our Iwata Eclipse airbrush.
