Rolling curved or rounded profiles is not easy with photo etched brass. The Deluxe Brass Assist will give you a helping hand.
The fact is, photo etch brass sets are a great asset but they are sometimes imperfect. What if you need to turn that thin sheet into a rounded bucket or a curved & semi-hemispherical mudguard for instance?
You could of course try & do it with what’s to hand but that’s never going to yield great results. The Small Shop of America created the Deluxe Brass Assist Rolling Station to assist modellers with this task.
It’s a well-engineered precision tool that uses a base plate in aluminium & several rollers, made in stainless steel or aluminium, that fit into the grooves on the plate. There’s also a rubber mat on the base to assist normal freestyle rolling.
There’s definitely a technique to using it which we explore in the film & as you’ll see, you need to anneal the metal parts first for optimal results.
