Created in 2005, U-Models makes resin upgrade sets & kits based on a nautical theme. In particular World War Two maritime & amphibious subjects in 1:35th scale. We took a look at one of their sets.
U-Models Reference UM005, as the number might suggest, is one of their earlier releases. “WWII US Navy Life Vests” is one of those useful little packets of accessories that model makers crave.
Making a DUKW or Ford GPA? Maybe you are tackling an LCM in 1:35th scale? Well this little set could prove very useful to help you deck out your sea-going model.
Look at any reference photos from World War Two & you’ll see life-vests strewn all around these sort of craft.
In the pack there’s a good cross-section of life vests cast in a pleasant pale yellow resin. The original sculpting is good & the casting from the master well-executed. There’s a good level of detail on all the parts.
Of course you could have a go at reproducing designs like this yourself using sculpting putty but if you want a quick fix, this could be the accessory for you. Just take a look at our photos & make up your own mind.
