Recreating realistic water is one of the skills you will need if you build dioramas to display your models.
There’re a number of products on the market & Vallejo Still Water (Ref: 26.230) is just one of them. We wanted to try it out to see how it fared. So we tested it on a diorama build.
Various manufacturers have taken different routes to the problem of replicating water. Vallejo’s Still Water is an out-of-the-bottle formula. It’s a water-based polyurethane self-levelling solution. Therefore, it promises to be a simple & easy method to create waterways.
Supplied in a 200ml bottle, Still Water dries clear & transparent over 24 hours. You can also colour Still Water with Vallejo acrylics. As you will see from the video, it’s best to always work with it in thin coats.
To show you how it works, we made this video “How To” guide. It features Verlinden’s small canal bridge model (Ref: 1595) which is produced in resin. We painted it with Model Color acrylics & then set about pouring the Still Water.
To finish it off, we added our Tamiya 1:48th scale Citroen Traction (Ref: 32517) .
