Painting Waffen SS camouflage can be a daunting task but achieving a convincing result just got a little easier thanks to Vallejo.
New to their 2014 catalogue is their Waffen SS Camouflage Painting Set (Ref: 70.180). It contains 8 of their familiar 17ml bottles of “Model Color” paints. These water-based acrylics are easy to use & simple to clean up.
There’s definitely a certain technique to using acrylic paints as they dry much quicker than oils. Once mastered though, the results can be spectacular.
To help you achieve those sorts of results you get a useful addition inside the box. The fold-out step-by-step guide tells you exactly how the SS figure on the box art was painted. It lists how the contents of the set were employed to get the finished result. It’s all illustrated with high-quality photography & text descriptions. Plus, there’s some history on the types of SS camouflage as well as a section on the theory behind working with acrylics.
